The Games Committee are delighted to welcome you all to our scenic Glen for the Drumtochty Highland Games. It was in 1977 that the Queen’s Silver Jubilee local committee held the first games and it was so successful that a few enthusiasts decided to perpetuate the
Event.

Today five of the founders still serve - Jim Brown, Rob Aitken, John Nicoll, Alan Sim and Kenny Morgan and they are delighted that they have been joined by young enthusiastic members. The future of the Games is ensured.

The setting as ever is stunning and we are delighted that Charlie and Dotty Anderson continue to allow us to use this unsurpassable location. Although they now stay in Canada with their
Family, they keep in touch with the Games and give us staunch support from afar. Drumtochty Castle was built in 1882 and continues to thrive as a wedding venue bringing welcome revenue and visitors to the Glen.
It also provides support and extra use to the historic St Palladius
Chapel which has watched over the Glen since the 1880’s.
Today we welcome new sponsors and continue to enjoy the loyal support of our established sponsors. Membership of the Grampian Games brings us the backing of their generous sponsors, Glenfiddich, Williamson and Dunn, Trinity International, Walkers of Aberlour, Mr And Mrs McBride and John Milne Auctioneers.

We cherish our membership of the Grampian Games and value the help that we get from the other members and extend a warm welcome to their visiting representatives today. Also to the representatives of the Scottish Highland Games Association which continues to represent our
interest at national level - never an easy task in the face of the ever increasing burden of health and safety laws, child protection rules, performance enhancing drugs etc.

Our Games always provides an opportunity for local clubs and charities to raise funds for their worthy causes and we wish them well. The teas served by this year will be served by Gannet's of Laurencekirk.

We welcome all the competitors in all the games disciplines and wish them success in their endeavours.

Highland games are now a global attraction and our games are an important part of Scotland’s tourist calendar and we extend a welcoming hand to all out overseas visitors.
